Warning, this post is definitely not vegetarian friendly.
My favourite place at the Good Food and Drink Festival was hands down, the Bacon Nation Food Truck. Now I’m a lover of all things pork anyway, but I really didn’t think there was a way to do bacon any better than it already was. The dudes at the Bacon Nation Food Truck proved me wrong.
Their Nutella “BBBLT” Sandwich is comprised of two large pieces of back bacon, eight pieces of regular bacon, tomato and lettuce, all sandwiched between two pieces of Texas toast with a generous spread of Nutella on each slice. Interesting flavour combination and changes the concept of candied bacon to a different plane by adding the cocoa and hazelnut flavours. According to my baconista friend pictured above, she absolutely loved it.
My personal favourite was their deep fried thick-cut bacon strips served with BBQ sauce. Instead of being crispy like a chip, their thick-cut bacon was meatier in texture while still having a very nice crisp on the outside. Another thing I really like about their bacon strips is that they aren’t as salty as most bacon I have ever tried.
Bonus perk, they have awesome merchandise that I heard are going to be sold from their website soon. I’ll definitely be rocking the baconista shirt I got.
Until we dine again,
