Following this trend of amazing Latin food in Scarborough/Markham, I found this little shop on Karachi Drive that does Colombian food. I don't say this often but this was an amazing amazing experience. Being greeted in the small sit down restaurant by the owner and having her explain what Tostons were really gave the food the introduction it deserved.
The food was plentiful and delicious and the service was amazing. They also provide a free coffee with every meal which is a nice touch.
So now onto the dishes I tried.
Left, the bandeja paisa or the "local's plate". This features top grilled meat selections that you might find in Colombia such as pork belly, steak and sausage. As the name suggests this is the favourite dish of Colombians visiting the restaurant so this is a great sampler of the different meats they have. $19.00
Right, the Toston with pulled beef. Now for me this was my favourite as the food itself for me was new. A toston is mashed up green plantain that is deep fried. They use theirs as a plate of sorts to the deliciously marinated pulled beef and boy oh boy was that delicious. Btw their menu says this is only 507 calories, probably not true haha but hey I'm not a dietitian. $15.00
I also tried one of their empanadas. Instead of a wheat based skin, they use a corn based one which is interesting. Personally I love the style of empanadas that i find at Kensington better but an interesting experience overall. $3.00 each.
I can't recommend this place enough, and definitely livens up the variety of food you can find up in Markham and Scarberia. Let me know what other places you recommend me try!
