Day 0 in Boston. Sitting in a car for 9 hours is pretty exhausting, send my blessings to the driver. Decided to kick off the trip by going to the oldest restaurant in America, The Union Oyster House. Apparently the late John F. Kennedy loved eating here and if he liked it, I shall try it. On the menu were raw Blue Point oysters from Connecticut. Mild in flavour, goes excellent with the marinara, sauerkraut and a sprinkle of Tabasco sauce. This being my first time having raw oysters, I understand why it is an aphrodisiac; the eating experience was like no other and I definitely wanted more.

The dinner was followed up with a cup o’ clam chowda, a Bostonian classic. Creamy, great clam flavour and a good balance of potatoes and clams.

For the main, I had their Sautéed Seafood Medley served on a bed of linguine. Fresh seafood and perfectly done calamari. My only note was that some of their mussels were a bit sandy.

Great service and an interesting environment due to the history behind it. The menu items are a bit pricey but considering that this is also a historic landmark and the food was actually quite good, I highly suggest going at least once if you’re in Boston.
